When I first met Nathan Vernau I was surprised that the calm, friendly man in front of me was the same one whose wild self-portraits had wowed me at NEXT. One mixed media drawing had displayed a half dozen versions of the himself dressed in flamboyant boxer shorts and paper bag masks struggling to hold down winged googly...
