Purple State: Dance, Kandinsky and Ohio at Links Hall.

Even Though Sixty Inches From Center (SIFC) focuses on the visual arts, sometimes we like to step over and see how the other half lives. Last week SIFC Media Director Andrew Roddewig caught a performance of “Purple State” at Links Hall.

“The Purple State features three distinct female choreographers with deep connections to Ohio. From a state steeped with political party drama and cities steadily rising out of cornfields, there maintains the theoretical, performative and choreographic work of Meghan Durnham-Wall, Kristina Isabelle, and Erin Carlisle Norton. Pulling in themes surrounding magical realism, the color violet found in Kandinsky artwork, and the complexity of social orders; the array of work by these women keeps dance charged and relevant in Middle America.”
