Scenes from the Milwaukee Avenue Arts Festival

Chicago is known for having a summer full of festivities, but the Chicago Reader has named the Milwaukee Avenue Arts Festival (MAAF) the Best Public Art Event for their ‘Best of Chicago Poll’. MAAF marked its fourth year this past weekend. For three days Logan Square turned its streets into a first class arts festival that featured over 100 artists, 3 stages of live music, family activities, performance art and much more.

I Am Logan Square is the magic behind the fantastic weekend where Milwaukee Ave, between Kimball and California, is overrun by a crowd of creative folk, culture, beer, good eats and a strong sense of community gathering. I Am Logan Square is a non-profit organization geared towards supporting and promoting the arts and cultural development in Chicago’s Logan Square neighborhood.

If you missed this year’s Festival…you missed out. Fortunately the festivities will be back next summer, and I’m positive the event will outdo this years. I would’ve loved to attend all three days, but I was only able to check out Saturday. While there I had the pleasure of seeing live music by Unicycle Loves You, Swimsuit Addition, Del Ray and Los Vicios De Papa. The photos below highlight only a portion of the day’s greatness.
