Join Our Board
Our next call for board nominations will be from September 1st to October 11th, for board service that will begin in Spring 2027.
Whether you’re interested in joining yourself or have the perfect person in mind, Sixty is welcoming and accepting nominations for our board. We are looking for people who are deeply interested in board service and have the capacity to spend a two-year term serving as ambassadors for not only Sixty’s work, but also our Indigenous, diasporic, trans, queer, and disability communities.
We are seeking board members with a wide range of skill sets but are especially interested in people from across the Midwest who have experience, knowledge, and capacity to support these areas of our work:
- community-based editorial/newsroom experience
- marketing, community outreach and base-building
- relationship-based revenue generating partnerships, and individual donor development
- collective and nonhierarchical leadership and relationship tending
Sixty is a worker-led, nonhierarchical organization. Our board supports and reflects Sixty’s distributed leadership and decision-making style, which is where the board radically delegates significant and specific decision-making power to the staff of Sixty as a collective while maintaining a supportive role, providing strategic oversight, and giving guidance to the team in order to ensure the proper alignment of mission and values to the financial affairs of Sixty.
