Regional Resource Editor

Deadline to Pitch: December 15, 2025, 11:59pm CST

Overview

We are seeking editors to pitch state- and city-specific versions of Sixty’s Resources Towards Solidarity, Care, and Community Defense that can be used across the Midwest.

Currently, our resource list is Chicago-focused, but we want to expand it to be more statewide and regional. To make that happen, we are searching for editors, researchers, and organizers to be Regional Resource Editors to create customized versions of this list for the Native lands overlapping the arbitrary colonial boundaries of the 12 states of the Midwest.

Strong pitches will come from those who show clear alignment with Sixty’s values and have active, trusted, and existing relationships with the communities that these lists are created with and for.

What the Editors Will Be Doing

–> Co-writing an introduction that is inspired by Sixty’s original version but made to speak authentically to the distinct needs and characteristics of each place.

–> Following Sixty’s template as a starting point and finding at least three resources per sub-category for smaller cities and communities and a minimum of five for larger cities. Also offering strategic and thoughtful suggestions for how to make the list more useful without it losing focus.

–> Attending at least two co-working meetings in January or February with members of Sixty’s Team to develop these lists, and actively research together.

–> Finishing these lists by February 15, 2026. We want to keep this editorial project within a tight window in order to ensure the resources collected are still relevant, active, and useful, and to also give us a clear stopping point because research projects can go on forever.

Midwest Location Priorities

We are open to any location and want to create statewide lists, but to align this effort with current projects and partners we have across the region our initial soft priorities are Illinois (East St. Louis, Peoria, Springfield, Urbana-Champaign), Indiana (Indianapolis, Bloomington), Michigan (Detroit), Minnesota (Minneapolis, St. Paul), Missouri (Kansas City, St. Louis), Nebraska (Omaha), Ohio (Cleveland), South Dakota (Kyle, Rapid City, Sioux Falls), and Wisconsin (Milwaukee, Madison).

Compensation and Timeline

Researchers will be paid $500 per list as independent contractors. The deadline to pitch is December 15, 2025. Incomplete submissions will not be considered.
