The Lit & Luz Festival of Language, Literature, and Art, is a unique series of readings, conversations, and performances that happen in Spanish and English featuring renowned authors and visual artists from the US and Mexico. This five-day festival takes place in venues throughout Chicago, October 11-15, 2016.

Headliners include Mexican writers Daniel Saldaña París, Gabriela Jauregui, and Guadalupe Nettel, along with visual artist Jorge Méndez Blake and Lit & Luz writer in residence Luis Felipe Fabre. Lit & Luz: Anti-Static: A Live Magazine Extravaganza will feature debut multimedia collaborations between the artists.

October 13-27, 2016
52nd Chicago International Film Festival
Various places throughout Chicago
Like them on Facebook

Seeking out the best in international cinema, the Festival has opened windows to a world of film previously or otherwise unavailable in Chicago. The films are all Chicago premieres and many are world or U.S. premieres. Most of the films shown at the Festival will not gain a wide release, secure a U.S. distributor, or become available on video. Therefore, the Festival provides local audiences with a unique opportunity to discover a range of films that would otherwise be unavailable to them. In addition, at more than half of the screenings each year, filmgoers have the rare and exciting chance to meet directors, actors, and actresses who introduce their films and hold discussion sessions after the screenings.

Don’t Miss These Films:

9 Rides on Oct 14, 21, 23rd
Black Lives Matter and the Media on Oct 16th
Girls Don’t Fly on Oct 16 & 18th
Layla M on Oct 16, 18, & 20th
I Am Not Your Negro on Oct 20th
Tribute: Steve McQueen on Oct 22nd
Daughters of the Dust on Oct 23rd
Moonlight on October 26th
