Greg Ruffing is interested in the interstices where artist/writer/curator and activist/organizer can overlap. His work often focuses critically or conceptually on the social production of space, and the specifics of site and place. He is particularly drawn to the long history of artist-run spaces, apartment galleries, and other alternative/experimental/temporary exhibition practices across Chicago, and has been involved with co-organizing artist-led initiatives such as The Perch (a social project venue in Pilsen) and Public Access (a multi-use space in Humboldt Park).

In addition to those venues, Greg has also facilitated exhibitions and programming at places such as the Terrain Biennial and SPACES (Ohio), and his own work has been exhibited at Triumph Gallery, Johalla Projects, Laura, Sullivan Galleries, Forum Artspace (Ohio), and elsewhere. He has published exhibition catalogue essays with Public Access, and other art writing with Great River Review, Chicago Artist Writers, and various self-published projects. Greg recently completed a dual degree MFA in Photography and MA in Visual & Critical Studies from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
