Video Portrait: Project Onward

Project Onward is an arts program for adults with mental and developmental disabilities. For the month of April, Project Onward presents Unstrange – Autism Revealed showcasing a group exhibition of works created by artists on the autism spectrum in observance of Autism Awareness Month. Located in the historic Chicago Cultural Center, Project Onward provides workspace, art materials, professional guidance, and opportunities for exhibition and sales to artists who have exceptional talents but face challenges ranging from autism to mental illness. For the public, interaction with the art and artists of Project Onward fosters awareness of disability issues and an appreciation of the visionary talents of people with special needs. On The Real Film’s profile of Project Onward tells the story of the program through the artists’ work and the artists’ process in their own words.
